Ever since we published the 3rd Edition of Frank Tibolt’s classic, self-help book A Touch of Greatness, dozens of people have written to me wanting to know:

Frank TiboltWho is Frank Tibolt?

I wrote a blog post back in September 2007 which shed some light as to who he was and what he did.

[Summary: A Touch of Greatness is essentially a compilation of a 12-Lesson personal success program which Frank taught in classrooms, clinics and through correspondence courses since the 1950's].

However, I’d like to take it a step further and provide you with the About Author information which we included in the 3rd edition of his book. Here it is:

About Frank Tibolt

Most people can’t find the time or energy to write a book at any age …let alone write one in their 80’s …but that’s exactly what Frank Tibolt did. In 1981, at the age of 84, Frank finished writing and then published A Touch of Greatness.

But Frank Tibolt was no ordinary octogenarian. He was unusually active for his age and continued to help people with his book and correspondence courses up until his death in 1989 at the age of 92.

Frank Tibolt was born in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania in 1897. At the age of 14, Frank and his family moved to beautiful Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where he spent most of his teenage and early adulthood years.

After graduating from Moravian College, Frank moved to Philadelphia where he managed several businesses including A&P Stores and the famous Linton’s chain of family restaurants.
During his years in business, Frank Tibolt developed a passion for studying the methods and habits of successful people. This passion inspired him to create one of the most effective self-help courses ever produced. His proven success program was taught to over 40,000 students worldwide (and counting).

Eventually, Frank expanded his course and taught a variety of self-help subjects including public speaking, communication, charisma, vocational guidance, salesmanship, the art of living, and secrets of wealth and prosperity.

In 1965 Frank Tibolt moved to Glenside, Pennsylvania with his wife Bella, where he continued to enrich the lives of thousands up until his death.

Frank Tibolt was an inspiration to all of his family and friends. He was a noble man in every sense of the word. His charisma, patience, prudence, practicality and talents as a master motivator continue to impact people to this day through his books and self-improvement programs.

Frank Tibolt was very much like Napoleon Hill in that he had a thirst for understanding the methods and strategies which make people succeed. And just like Hill, Frank Tibolt’s works examined the power of personal beliefs, and the role they play in personal success.

[Sidenote: Frank Tibolt actually met and listened to Russell Conwell deliver his famous speech, Acres of Diamonds. In Chapter 6 of A Touch of Greatness, aptly named "Dr Conwell's Revolutionary Mind Discovery", Frank talks about the role our thoughts and minds play in personal success.]

In addition to A Touch of Greatness, Frank Tibolt also published several other books, reports and pamphlets including the following:

The Action Program for Self-Advancement

A Technique to Revolutionize Your Life

From Failure to Success in Six Weeks

A New, High-Speed Method for Developing Personality

A New, 3-Month Program for Becoming a Star Salesman

A Unique Method for Acquiring Interesting Conversation

(I’ve read most of these reports and I can tell you that they are brilliant. Stay tuned because we are bringing back to life many of these titles.)

Besides his writing style and unique perspective with regards to self-advancement, I was amazed at the collection of glowing testimonials which Frank had collected over the decades. Many of them are incredibly heartwarming and sincere letters sent in by his former students.

There are many ‘rags to riches’ stories as well as incidents of Frank having helped the person to get a better job or promotion, or to increase his or her income.

But even more inspiring than the obvious ‘material rewards’, are the dozens of stories of people being helped with their self-esteem, self-confidence, self-image, peace of mind and health.

Frank’s material has even been credited with stopping a person from committing suicide. Now that is POWERFUL stuff indeed.

As you read his material, it becomes rather obvious that Frank Tibolt was no shallow thinker or superficial ‘guru’ (unlike many of today’s self-help authors who are). His wisdom, genuineness, pleasantness and sincerity to help others rings true on just about every page.

The following quote sums up the man’s character and how he felt about others pretty well. It’s one of my many, many favorite quotes from A Touch of Greatness:

“Today I’ll meet some bores, bigots, thieves, liars, loafers. I make myself like all of them. What kind of a dull life would this be if everyone were alike? One sure test of being mature is to like the world and its people. AS THEY ARE NOW. This world isn’t perfect. Neither are we perfect. But we’d better accept it. It’s the only one we’ll ever have.”
